This exhibit places the act of commemoration at the heart of the study of Renaissance England—both our commemoration of that society, and that society’s commemoration of its past. The Tudor regime turned to rewritings of history to explain its right to the English throne and invented its own past and its own martyrs through history texts that serve a commemorative function. On view January 24-May 17. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; closed federal holidays. Admission is free.
