In an evening entitled “Washington Writers: Beyond the Capitol,” Jones and Mengestu read from their latest works. Jones, a Pulitzer Prize winner (“The Known World”), was a finalist for the 2007 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Mengestu, an Ethiopian émigré and Georgetown University graduate, recently published his first book, “The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears.” Friday, February 29 at 8 p.m. Reading followed by a reception, book sale, and signing.
