“Rita is one of the most electrifying and dynamic Israeli singers.
She has an energy and intensity in her voice, an incredible lyricism.”
—Shalom Freedman, author
Rita is one of Israel’s leading divas. Her music combines the Middle Eastern lilt of her Persian heritage with a Western orientation, the influence of her American-born husband Rami Kleinstein, one of Israel’s leading artist-composer-producers. Born in Tehran, Iran, Rita immigrated to Israel as a young child and studied singing and acting. After releasing her first album in 1986, she instantly achieved fame across Israel, and the album went Triple Platinum. In 1989, she was chosen as “Singer of the Year” by Israel’s national radio station and “Woman of the Decade for the Stage Arts” by one of Israel’s leading daily papers. She has represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest and has toured abroad to great international acclaim, selling over half a million albums throughout her career. Rita has performed with world-famous orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic. She is also known for her roles on the silver screen, including starring as Flora in The Thousand Wives of Naftali. http://www.teev.com/rita
